Touched By A Monkey

Here's a picture of Alec enjoying the fair. No, no! The bottom picture.
I couldn't decide whether to take my monkey to the fair this year. I think the Silver Dollar Fair pales in comparison to the Siskiyou Golden Fair I grew up on (just look at their names: silver dollar; golden. Which sounds worth more to you?)
Anyway, the idea of seeing Alec enjoy various farm animal babies won out and he and I went Sunday afternoon while Dad was at work. Alec saw a little circus, the midway and lots of animals. In fact, he asked to see the animals again by name: Cow, Horse, Pig, Sheep (Baa!), Bunny (Hop), Duck--even Goat. And we only spent $15.
Oh, but the monkey scratched my hand a bit when it took my quarter. Hence the title: Touched By A Monkey. (And yes, I did break out the hand sanitizer afterward.) Posted by Picasa

Oh, that Alley Cat

Today Alec was running around saying, "Hugs! Hugs!" and giving hugs and kisses, and Tom said, "Why do you suppose he is so sweet?" I had no answer.
Lately, Alec's favorite activities include: playing on the bed, looking for bugs (outside, not on the bed), insisting on using a big-boy spoon, reading books, coloring with crayons, playing with his "guys" (Little People) and, of course, anything to do with JoJo's Circus.
He's a little spooked by camels and the potty. But then, who isn't? Posted by Picasa

OK, fine, I'll blog

I always like to be the first or last on board any trend. Accordingly, I had a short-lived blog on Blogger back in 2000 or 2001. That blog was about as dull and pretentious as my actual life, so it was fortunate for all concerned that I lost interest in it.
Now, however, my life is nonstop fascination thanks to the fact that I have produced a son, a masculine child, my progeny, Alec Merced. This will be no ordinary "mommy blog," because Alec is no ordinary child.
The blog will be modest, too.
